Flat and low-slope roofing systems require specialized membrane installation to achieve a watertight seal across the entire surface. Contractors install TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin), EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer), PVC membrane, modified bitumen, and built-up roof systems — selecting the right membrane for your building's needs, climate, and budget.
Installation begins with rigid insulation boards over the roof deck, providing thermal performance and a smooth substrate. The membrane is rolled out and adhered with adhesive, heat-welded at seams (TPO and PVC), or torch-applied (modified bitumen). Every parapet wall, drain, pipe penetration, and HVAC curb gets custom-fabricated flashing. For built-up roofs, we mop or spread alternating layers of bituminous felt and asphalt to build a multi-ply waterproof system. Reflective elastomeric coatings can be applied for additional UV protection and energy savings. All flat roof installations are verified for proper drainage slope and building code compliance.
